St. Edwards Park.

We had the first hike of the year for the Fowler Four at Saint Edwards Park in Austin today.  The weather was just right for little boys to wear mittens.  Samuel led the way along the cliff route and mom resisted the instinct to grab his hand every 5 seconds.  He is growing into a fantastic little hiker.  Caleb investigated a possible new species of snake curled up on a rock- unfortunately it turned out to be a Texas Rubber Toy Snake.  We saw evidence that there are some feral hogs rooting around out there.  We also spotted some cardinals and some little yellow breasted finches.  It's fun to watch how the area is coming back after all the flooding that occurred down there a few years back. St. Edwards is a great local family friendly hiking area .  Visitors can bring leashed dogs, ride horses, and mountain bike.  For more info on Saint Edwards Park, check out Austin Parks Foundation  or  Austin Explorer.
